David L. Sargent

David Sargent was the founder of Traditional Coachworks in Mesa, Arizona. His father, Frank Sargent, was the founder of Thetford, so he spent his life around the RV industry.

Traditional Coachworks serviced and built custom RV's, and produced a couple of Eagle conversions for clients.  The advantage of owning your own RV shop is that you get everything, including labor, at dealer cost. And, you can experiment with things that others may not be willing to try, like adapting an HWH slide system to your requirements. The disadvantage is that your projects are always last priority, which is likely the main reason this build took 10 years to complete.

What is known about Dave is limited, mostly based on internet research and documents included when his Eagle bus was purchased from the second owner. Apparently he also owned the Ridgerunner RV service shop, and a custom cabinetry business called Desert Inspirations, both of which were related to the RV business. One of the other Eagle buses they converted, a 35' single rear axle model, also used Cherry woodwork and Corian countertops, and appeared to have been ordered from Eagle as an empty shell specifically for conversion.

A few years after Thetford was sold, it appears he retired and turned the business over to previous employees. The company continued operating under a slightly different name until the early 2000's. Traditional Coachworks was located here: Google Map

The conversion was completed in 2002, and he drove it from Arizona to South Dakota each summer until he passed in 2010.
